Account Recovery Setup

Account Recovery methods allow you to reset your password and regain access to your account when you’re otherwise unable to. LifeReady has two recovery methods available, and we highly recommend setting up both to prepare for any scenario.

Due to the security methods we use to protect your account, LifeReady cannot help you if you forget your password or lose access to your 2FA. Self-recovery is the only method of regaining access. We cannot reset or change passwords, ‘unlock’ your account, or provide access through other methods.

Personal Recovery Key

A personal recovery key is a random combination of words that acts as a unique key to your account. When using this to recover your account, you will be asked to enter the passphrase.

You can generate as many recovery keys as you want. If you plan to give a key to someone else, we recommend creating a unique one for them, which gives you absolute control.

In the Security Centre, you will see the ‘Personal Recovery Key’ panel where you can set up and manage your recovery keys.

  • Generating a New Key: Clicking ‘Create New‘ will automatically generate a new recovery key. Adding a label is optional and simply helps you organise your keys. Once generated, you will see a set of random words that form your recovery key. This will only be shown to you once. Write it down somewhere secure so you can access it when needed, then click ‘Done‘.
  • Removing a Recovery Key: Recovery keys can be removed at any time by clicking the trash button next to the key you want to delete.

Removing a key makes it unusable, so ensure you’re removing the correct one.

Trusted Party Recovery

Trusted Party Recovery lets you select Trusted Parties to help you recover your account instead of using a recovery key.

When a recovery attempt is initiated, your chosen Trusted Parties will be asked to approve or deny the attempt. Two Trusted Parties must approve the recovery for it to be successful.

In the Security Centre, you will see the Trusted Party Account Recovery panel where you can set up and manage your Trusted Party account recovery.

To set up Trusted Party account recovery, you need at least two Trusted Parties. This is a required security measure to ensure at least two people always check the recovery attempt.

If you have at least two Trusted Parties, begin setup by searching for the Trusted Parties you want to add and selecting their names from the list. A maximum of four Trusted Parties can be assigned.

Once you’ve selected at least two Trusted Parties (up to four maximum), you can add them. If successful, you will see cards with their names displayed:

We recommend informing your selected Trusted Parties that they have been assigned to your account recovery so they are prepared when needed.
