Getting Started: How to Set Up Your LifeReady Vault in Under 10 Minutes

Getting started with LifeReady is simpler than you might expect. Here's exactly how to set up your account, step by step — from creating your account to inviting your first Trusted Party.

Step 1: Create Your Account

Visit app.lifeready.io/signup and enter your name, email address, and a strong password. Every new account includes a 30-day free trial with full access to all features — no payment required upfront.

One thing worth knowing: LifeReady is built on zero-knowledge architecture. Your password is your key — nobody, including LifeReady, can reset it for you. Choose something strong and memorable, and store it somewhere secure outside the platform.

Step 2: Set Up Two-Factor Authentication

Before accessing your Vault, you’ll need to enable two-factor authentication. This is a required step — it means even if someone else had your password, they still couldn’t get in without your second verification.

Set up 2FA via SMS or an authentication app like Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. The app option is more secure — it works without mobile reception and isn’t vulnerable to SIM-swapping. Both options are in the Security Centre.

Keep your backup codes somewhere safe outside the platform — they’re your safety net if you ever lose access to your authenticator.

Step 3: Add Your First Records

Your Vault is divided into four categories — Financial, Legal, Medical, and Personal — with hundreds of built-in templates for common record types. If nothing fits, create a custom record.

Start with three to five records that matter most right now: your primary email credentials, health insurance details, key passwords, Medicare card. Whatever has been sitting on your to-do list.

LifeReady’s Bulk Upload feature lets you add multiple files at once.

Step 4: Set Up Account Recovery

Because LifeReady uses zero-knowledge architecture, there’s no traditional “forgot my password” option. Recovery needs to be set up before you need it.

Two options: a Personal Recovery Key — a unique passphrase you write down and store securely outside your account — or Trusted Party Recovery, which lets two people you trust approve a recovery request on your behalf without ever seeing your data. Setting up both is the most resilient approach. Both are in the Security Centre.

Step 5: Invite Your Trusted Parties

Trusted Parties are the people who play a role in your LifeReady account — your spouse, adult child, close friend, or professional advisor. They can be given access to specific records, help recover your account, and act on your behalf through your Legacy Plans and Emergency Scenarios.

Go to your Contact Book and select ‘Invite a Trusted Party’. They’ll need a LifeReady account to accept, but don’t need a paid subscription. By default, Trusted Parties have no access until you explicitly grant it. You stay in complete control.

What Comes Next

Once you’re set up and your first records are in, the natural next step is your Legacy Plan — the part of LifeReady that ensures your loved ones can access what they need if something happens to you.

The LifeReady Checklist walks you through what to add across all seven categories. For step-by-step guidance on any feature, visit the Getting Started section of the LifeReady Guide at lifeready.io/guide.
